Niagara Falls

The Niagara Falls Santa Claus parade is an annual favourite filed with marching bands, fun floats and the man in the red suit himself! While you’re waiting for the parade to start, you can grab a coffee at Queen Bean Cafe, a friendly shop with a delicious breakfast menu and great coffee. And if you’re in the mood for a classic breakfast, visit the Hi-Lite Restaurant that’s been a staple in the downtown core for over 40 years.
Welland

The Welland Santa Claus parade is sure to be a hit for the entire family! In addition to the parade, the kids can meet Santa and stay for a showing of Disney’s Muppet Christmas Carol taking place in Civic Square. Grab a bite to eat at The VHC with its huge selection of yummy vegan food that will even impress meat lovers. Or if you’re looking to warm up, try Matteo’s Ristorante with its cozy atmosphere and delicious wood-fired pizzas.
Fort Erie

Now in its 47th year, the Fort Erie Santa Claus parade has been a family favourite for almost half a century. Warner Ranch showcases its Belgian horses and Canada Post collects letters to send to the North Pole. Take in the sights of the Niagara River at Ming Teh Restaurant, which offers a dining-room view of the water while you enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine. And if you’re looking to continue the magic of the evening, visit the Old Bank Bistro, a charming restaurant that’s maintained the history of its building and offers a date-night special.
St. Catharines

The St. Catharines Santa Claus parade is full of cheer and goodwill. The event includes an annual collection of non-perishable food items, mittens and hats to support Community Care St. Catharines and Thorold Kids. Come early and enjoy the free Family Skate at Meridian Centre from 2 pm to 4 pm. After the parade, grab burgers at The WORKS Gourmet Bistro Burger, which offers something for everyone. Or if you want more of an upscale dining experience, visit the Wellington Court Dining, a hidden gem known for its local menu and exceptional wine list.
Thorold

Thorold’s Santa Claus parade will be celebrating its 29th year of bringing joy to children and adults alike during this holiday season. For something different, it’s worth visiting Karma Kameleon Gastropub, which has a small but delicious menu that’s locally sourced and offers a nice selection of craft beers. Or visit Pho 18 with its flavourful and “warm-you-up” dishes that are perfect after enjoying the parade.
Port Colborne

The city of Port Colborne showcases its unique location for its annual Santa Claus parade. The parade starts at the Port Colborne High School and makes its way down to the Welland Canal, which provides event-goers with the opportunity to view the waterway under a sparkling winter sky. While you’re there, we recommend the Lock Wood Fired Pizza, a cozy eatery that offers gluten-free options, and tasty desserts are sure to please the kids. Or grab a bite before the parade at Archie’s Subs and Eatery, which in addition to being known for its delicious subs also has fish and chips, wings, and a kid’s menu.
Grimsby

Grimsby’s Santa Claus parade is special because it does an annual theme, with this year’s being “Hometown Christmas”. Over 90 entries including marching bands and floats will take part in this wonderful gathering of the community. While you’re taking in the magic of the parade, it’s worth visiting the Indian Hut, known for its traditional and flavourful Indian offerings that make it a town gem. And if you’re a lover of wine and charcuterie, the Olive Board does not disappoint with its thoughtful menu pairings and lovely atmosphere.
Niagara-on-the-Lake

If you love all things tradition, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Christmas parade is the perfect way to celebrate Santa’s arrival in a historical setting. The old part of Niagara-on-the-Lake features beautifully restored 19th century buildings that make you feel like you’ve stepped back into the Victorian era. After the parade, grab lunch at the Irish Harp Pub, a casual restaurant that offers a range of menu options and comfort food to warm you up. Or try Benchmark, a teaching restaurant located at Niagara College that offers a lovely menu and a beautiful view of the Niagara escarpment.
